Best city community: results

The Dubai Rating's Best City Community nomination turned out to be just as competitive and vivid as the entrepreneurs one before it. We gathered 60 very different communities — large and famous, niche, intimate or founded by well-known people — and held a public vote.

All nominees

As always, the best were chosen in the rating's Telegram bot: you could vote for as many nominees as you liked, but only once for each. In total, Dubai residents cast almost 3,000 votes in this nomination. And this time the winners surprised us: they pulled ahead literally in the last hours of the vote by rallying their supporters.

This nomination was especially meaningful for us, because DZCH itself began as an idea of a community of like-minded people who want to develop the city and grow themselves.

Winner

The best community nomination has an overall winner and winners in each category. They all competed fairly, rallied their followers, worried and refreshed the leaderboard until the very last moment. The final list surprised even us. And although, as in any rating, there are leaders, we respect and are deeply grateful to every participant.
Dubai Friends
Nomination winner

Dubai Friends

361 votes

A business community founded in 2022 as a small chat of friends. It now unites more than 1,500 members and works on referrals: to join the club you need a recommendation from current members, then you fill in an application and pass an interview. In closed online chats members discuss current business topics with experienced professionals, and the community regularly meets offline to expand business networks, learn about new opportunities and exchange valuable ideas in an informal setting. Besides Dubai, the community is present in Israel, London, Cyprus, Austria, Kazakhstan, Jurmala and Turkey.

Category leaders

Each category had its own battle: many early leaders swapped places by the end of the vote with those who were nominated only a week after it started. It's especially great that nominees suggested by readers themselves made it to the top.

Nomination partner

KED and Istanbul

KED (Kitchen Every Day) is stylish street food with Russian shawarma and great coffee in the Marina.

Istanbul is a bistro in the Marina with affordable prices, hookahs, Russian-Turkish cuisine and regular Russian-language events, from chess tournaments to business breakfasts.

Both cafés are close in spirit to the DZCH nomination: they host events that bring people together, you'll often meet Russian speakers there, and the food is affordable yet stylish. The restaurants are run by Andrey Merzhalilov, a businessman who made the top 10 Russian-speaking entrepreneurs with the most public support in the previous Dubai Rating nomination.
